October 2020-March 2021: MSS Interagency Team reviews survey items for the 2022 survey.
April-June 2021: MSS Interagency Team posts the Request for Proposals (RFP) to hire a contractor for the 2022 MSS.
July 2021: Contractor begins developing the MSS registration system and online survey.
August 2021: The Minnesota Department of Education notifies superintendents and district assessment coordinators about the 2022 MSS and their obligations under the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment.
November 2021: Copies of the 2022 survey instruments and sample notification letters (in English, Spanish, Hmong and Somali) are provided to districts.
December 2021: Registration opens for schools to sign-up for the 2022 MSS.
January-May 2022: Schools administer the survey on any date(s) during this window. Schools must provide parents and guardians the opportunity to opt their child out of the MSS at least two weeks prior to conducting the survey.
June-August 2022: School districts receive their district-level results.
October 2022: State and county results are released to the public.
