Daron Korte, J.D.
Assistant Commissioner Daron Korte, J.D., oversees the Minnesota Department of Education’s Office of Student Support Services, which includes the divisions of Special Education; Assistance and Compliance; Rulemaking; Nutrition Services; and Charter Schools. In these areas, he supervises agency implementation of state and federal legislation, guides development of policy and budget recommendations, and represents the commissioner with external stakeholders. Daron serves as a general legal adviser to the agency and commissioner. He is also the state’s commissioner designee and compliance committee chair for the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission and is the commissioner designee to the Minnesota Olmstead Plan Subcabinet.
Daron previously served as the department’s director of government relations. Prior to his work at the department, he served as committee administrator and counsel for the Minnesota Senate Education Policy and Finance Committee. He has also worked in the school law division of Chicago Public Schools. Daron has a law degree from DePaul University College of Law, and a bachelor of arts in sociology from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
