As Director of Communications, Ashleigh Norris leads the Minnesota Department of Education’s internal and external communications efforts. She is the primary liaison between the department and members of the press, and is responsible for telling the story of how efforts of the department benefit young Minnesotans and their families.
Ashleigh joined the department in 2015 and held various communications roles, including early learning communications specialist, graphic designer, communications advisor and assistant communications director, before becoming the director in 2021. Ashleigh has also worked as a public relations account executive at Padilla, a marketing and program coordinator at Orono Public Schools, and a production assistant at Southwest Airlines.
Ashleigh holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and marketing from Northern Michigan University, as well as a master of arts in strategic communications from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She is a graduate of Buffalo High School in Minnesota.
