Math Summer Professional Learning
#MathwithmeMN ~ Public Math Installations - Sustaining the Movement Webinar
Date: August 4, 2020
Time: 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Description: Learn how Math With Me MN was born, where it was at the end of the school year, and how we are currently adapting and innovating it for the first few weeks of school this fall. Whether using a distance or hybrid model, we plan to incorporate within its structure aspects pivotal to the beginning of the year, such as relationship building, mathematical identities, rituals, and routines.
Math With Me MN is a community engagement initiative. Students and teachers, collectively, create math installations and experiences in their homes and communities designed to connect people to each other and to mathematics. A ‘math installation’ is a math experience that gets people to think about math in a friendly, approachable way
- to reignite joy and play in (distance) learning, and to maximize student agency.
- to see and experience mathematics in our homes, our communities, our public spaces.
- to start closing the ‘distance’ in distance learning.
