Engaged Classroom Institute
Date(s): September 9-10, 2019 and October 17-18, 2019. (Since this is a four day workshop, participants are encouraged to attend all four days.)

Location: Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), 1500 Highway 36 West, Roseville, MN, 55113, Conference Center A, Room 13 and 14 on September 9-10, 2019. Conference Center B, Room 15 and 16 on October 17 and 18, 2019. Find directions to MDE. MDE has complimentary visitor parking.
Description: Empowering teachers to meet students' cultural and developmental needs and create classroom conditions where students feel known and safe, challenged and creative, cared for and encouraged. This dynamic four-day experience is designed specifically for instructional leaders, professional development leads, academic coaches, and teacher leaders to learn to support middle and high school teachers to reflect on their current practice and study frameworks, strategies, and mindsets that increase engagement, build high performing classroom communities, improve academic achievement, and foster social emotional competencies essential to student success. Participants will gain:
- A vision and plan for designing equity-centered classrooms
- A clear, strategic approach to integrating research-based strategies to support academic and social-emotional development
- A framework to increase students’ effort, interest, attention, participation and commitment
