Description: As part of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015, all districts enrolling students with English learner status must provide an effective language instruction educational program (LIEP) that allows them access to challenging, grade-level academic standards. Minnesota state statute requires all districts to have a written plan of services (an LIEP plan) describing how it provides effective instruction in a language instruction educational program. In this day-long workshop, districts and charters will learn about state and federal requirements as well as best practices around programming in an LIEP. Districts will have opportunities to network with other districts and receive feedback from MDE staff on their LIEP plans and programming.
This workshop is a supplement to the LIEP Plan Workshop provided in the 2018-2019 school year (or view a recorded webinar in Early September – link to come). Previous participation in the LIEP Plan Workshop or webinar is highly recommended.
