Child and Adult Care Food Programs

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded program administered by the Nutrition, Health and Youth Development Division at the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). The CACFP provides payments for meals and snacks served at Adult Care Centers, Child Care Centers, Day Care Homes, At-Risk After School Care Centers and Emergency Shelters. Meals and snacks must meet minimum guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The CACFP helps institutions and daycare homes serve well-balanced, nutritious meals and snacks to the participants in their care. Serving nutritious meals and snacks contributes to the wellness, healthy growth and development of young children, and the health and wellness of older adults.
