Continuous Improvement in Districts and Schools

The Minnesota Department of Education is committed to improving the state’s educational system in response to the needs of the 21st century student. To support these efforts, the Division of School Support provides resources and tools to assist districts and schools engaged in improving the effectiveness of instruction to increase student achievement. Title 1 Grant Waiver Request Notice

Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is providing notice and information regarding the waiver request described below:

In order to extend the period of availability of FY2014 Title 1 funds for the State Education Agency (SEA) and all of its Local Education Agencies (LEAs) beyond September 30, 2016, we are requesting that the United States Department of Education waive section 421(b) of the General Education Provisions Act (20 U.S.C. § 1225(b)) to extend the period of availability to September 30, 2019.

MDE believes that the requested waiver(s) will increase its ability to implement the Statewide System of Support program effectively, to improve the quality of instruction and raise the academic achievement of students in schools identified in need of support.

MDE is inviting and collecting comments on this waiver request. Please send comments to the School Support Division.

    The Record of Continuous Improvement is designed to support schools in facilitating and documenting the school improvement process. The template includes district and school information; a comprehensive needs assessment; school action plans to support reading, mathematics, graduation, and other goals; School wide Title I Program summary; and an appendix of additional tools for school improvement.
