Verification

Schools that participate in School Nutrition Programs are required to verify a percentage of the approved Applications for Educational Benefits each school year and report verification results annually to the Minnesota Department of Education. Verification is required only when eligibility is determined through the application process, not through direct certification. Verification must include confirmation of either income eligibility or that the child or any member of the household receives assistance under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Minnesota Family Investment Plan (MFIP), or the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR).

Refer to the resources below and on the right of the page for additional information on verification.
