Provision 2

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) designed the special assistance Provision 2 to decrease the burden of paperwork by reducing requirements related to household publications and counting and claiming meals during non-base years. In Minnesota, public schools must continue to collect household applications in non-base years due to compensatory revenue requirements, but counting and claiming of meals may still be streamlined.

There is not a required percentage or ratio of free, reduced-price, or paid meal participation rates for Provision 2, but all meals claimed must be served at no charge to students. School Food Authorities (SFAs) are reimbursed according to claiming percentages established during the base year.
